Partners in Health: Princeton HealthCare System & Hamilton Area YMCA

Princeton HealthCare System (PHCS) has joined forces with the Hamilton Area YMCA John K. Rafferty Branch to bring community education programs and on-site physical therapy services to residents of Hamilton and the surrounding communities.

This exciting partnership is a vital expansion of PHCS’ services, and housing our rehab and community education programs at the Hamilton Area YMCA is a natural complement to the health and wellness services offered there as well.

About Princeton HealthCare System

Princeton HealthCare System is among the most comprehensive healthcare systems in the state. Our nonprofit organization offers a full continuum of care, including acute care hospital services through University Medical Center at Princeton, behavioral healthcare, acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing, home care, hospice care, ambulatory surgery, and fitness and wellness services.

Each unit of PHCS is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment tools to provide convenient access to state-of-the-art healthcare. The system has 477 beds, more than 2,800 employees, 45 residents and fellows from the UMDNJ—Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Residency Training programs, and an active medical staff of more than 900 physicians.

PHCS now is helping shape the future of healthcare delivery in the region with the creation of a state-of-the-art healthcare campus, featuring the new University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, a replacement facility for the current Princeton location. The new campus will be located on Route 1 in Plainsboro and is slated for completion in 2012.

Community Education & Outreach

One of the contributing partners in the Hamilton Area Y/PHCS collaboration is the PHCS Community Education & Outreach Program, which offers a dynamic curriculum of innovative health- and lifestyle-related programming, screenings and support at little or no cost.

As one of three locations, Community Education & Outreach at Hamilton Area YMCA provides Hamilton-area residents with the opportunity to enjoy educational lectures, as well as participate in learning programs such as childbirth education classes, CPR instruction and personal empowerment programs—all close to home.

All program presenters are either physicians or other qualified healthcare professionals from PHCS, dedicated to promoting healthy living at every stage of life and to enhancing quality of life by addressing the unique needs of women, men, seniors, children, adolescents and diverse populations. Our Hamilton programming also aims to provide something for everyone. Whether reaching out to new families, children, young adults, active older adults, or senior citizens, we’ve designed our programs to meet the needs of the entire community.
